Texas Dolly Wins $2 Million

April 30, 2009

Doyle ‘Texas Dolly’ Brunson, now aged 74 is certainly not unknown for poker enthusiasts. Now, the talented online and land poker veteran has won again, this time against a bunch of younger poker professional players in the mixed games. This happened over the weekend at Bobby’s Room at the Bellagio in Las Vegas.

Bobby’s Room is originally named after Bobby Baldwin, world champion poker player himself and CEO of Mirage Resorts. This poker room has been the host of many exclusive poker games and mighty poker clashes. This time it was Texas Dolly’s big win that made the news.

Brunson was not shy to talk about $2 million profit he made over the weekend. He left messages on his Internet blog, where he wrote that he had decided to hit the cash games instead of the World Poker Tour $25 000 Championship event this year. An unusual move from Brunson, this did turn out as a great success as only a full win in the WPT tournament would have equalled the profits from this cash game win.

This involved Brunson facing up against the fearsome international poker master Phil Ivey. This ended up being an amusing episode as Doyle chose the game to be played. Brunson proceeded with a six card Razz and won over Ivey, who is regarded as a very mature and experienced opponent.

At the end, “I’ve got some more games for him if he wants to continue!’’ were Brunson’s words!

New Cake Poker Mobile Software Available

April 29, 2009

With an increasing demand for mobile gaming software, Cake Poker has answered the call of online poker players to have a mobile software platform. Cake has introduced a brand new mobile platform application that is fully-functional and completely user-friendly.

Cake Poker, the 10th busiest poker network on the Net, has released its full-service mobile software app for Windows Mobile operating system, permitting all Cake players to play real money online poker from anywhere that their cell phone can connect to the Internet. This move into the mobile realm is big for Cake, as their big competitors, PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker, have not yet taken the initiative to bring their poker platform to cellular users. Cake Poker Mobile is a unique and free app that can be downloaded from the Cake website, requiring only that Windows Mobile 5.0 be installed on your phone. Cake Poker features such as Gold Chips and Gold Cards operate in the same way as they do on your PC, and the mobile poker room requires no extra fees to play at and links directly to the player’s Cake account.

Unfortunately, Apple iPhone users are not supported on the new Cake Poker mobile software, and there is no hope for an iPhone poker app in the future. The problem lies among restrictions on Flash application development put in place by Apple through their Safari Web browser.

Another online gambling site that has recently gotten on board with the mobile gaming trend is Bodog Poker, which has developed a full sports betting application for mobile clients. This application is compatible with the SmartPhone, the Blackberry, Motorola’s Razr, and more. The Bodog mobile software features online slots, video poker, and blackjack, among other games. A Bodog mobile poker software application is in the works, as well.

Bodog takes back control of Bodog.com

April 26, 2009

According to the reported sources close to the internet sportsbook Bodog, the legislative battle to regain control of its domain name Bodog.com has finally reached its end. The quarrel started back in August 2007 when Bodog lost its domain name Bodog.com after receiving a $48 million dollar default court ruling against them.

1st Technology were the ones to allege that Bodog’ s software infringed on the patents they had filed in the US and elsewhere in the world according to the lawsuit filed in the state of Nevada. On August 1, 2007 the representatives of Bodog failed to appear in court to answer to these allegations and a default judgment was issued against them.

Following that, Bodog was forced to pay $49 million in damages. The removal of all DNS servers associated with Bodog were also included in the judgment. For most online companies, losing its domain name on the eve of Football season would have been a final fatal blow but Bodog succeeded to launch newbodog.com within just 12 hours. Then they also launched the current domain bodoglife.com few weeks after losing control over Bodog.com.

According to sources close to the firm, the legal battle is finally over and the company has received its due full rights over Bodog.com. A formal statement should be released this week with more details about Bodog and if they reached a settlement agreement with 1st Technology or if they regained their rights by winning the legal battle directly.

PRWeb to stop promoting online gambling

April 18, 2009

A press release distribution site Ferndale, has announced that the Washington located PRWeb has been ordered by the Washington State to end their online gambling promotions. This press release service was the news according to some reports issued earlier on this week.

After over 72 hours, the emails and chasers repeatedly sent to the site and its parent group, Vocus Inc., in Maryland questioning confirmation of this ban and the grounds on which it is be based are still unanswered.

It was already a well known fact that the Washington state is harsh and uses a very hard-line approach towards its online gambling but are nevertheless lenient towards and allow the other forms such as land gambling. Class C felony punishment measures usually applied for the more serious and personal crimes of the State are now being used for online gambling misuse.

Vocus Inc, the parent group of PRWeb.com is a publicly held firm providing public relations, distributing press releases over the Internet via RSS with the on-demand Web-based software. Yahoo! News, Google News, Lycos News, Topix.net, Excite News and eMediaWire are acting as distribution partners.

Despite the Washington State threat to the human principle of free speech and the lack of details about the legalities and justifications for this ban, the State ban still has not received a lot of media attention.

PokerStars unbanns ZeeJustin

April 15, 2009

The world renowned internet online poker room, PokerStars, has re-instated Justin “ZeeJustin” Bonomo’ s account, a sponsored professional player of Bodog Poker. This was done just in time for PokerStars’ very first SCOOP / Spring Championship of Online Poker.

Bonomo, a 23 year-old, encountered the first problems back in 2006 on PartyPoker. Back then, PartyPoker was hosting U.S. players and Bonomo initiated multiple accounts at the same time thus setting off a number of other websites to follow and ban this young player from their virtual homes.

Bonomo’s multi-accounting appearing on the various sites, coincided together with the revelation that Josh “JJProdigy” Field had used numerous screen names, including “ABlackCar” After Field’s mischief was also listed through PartyPoker, the latter started to really tighten up their safety measures. Field went on to being banned from the Bluff Online Poker Challenge last month, a decision taken by the Cake Poker Network after staking a player to use his account.

It has been found that Bonomo was using a total of six accounts to log into PartyPoker and was at times using all these accounts at the same online poker event. Bonomo moved away from the media frenzy and $640 buy-in PartyPoker Sunday tournament winnings were revoked. Then PokerStars Poker Room Manager, Lee Jones announced on TwoPlusTwo on February 26th, 2006, that Bonomo had been “playing multiple accounts in several tournaments at PokerStars.” Following that, money was withdrawn from his account and used to pay back the “players who were harmed by his actions in those same tournaments.”

Joining “Survivor: China” castaway Jean-Robert Bellande, Evelyn Ng, and David Williams, Bonomo signed on as a member of Team Bodog in 2008. Bonomo started cashing out from the live poker back in 2007, when he placed second in a $3,000 buy-in HORSE tournament part of the WSOP / World Series of Poker Circuit festivities in Las Vegas Caesar’s Palace for $40,000. Bonomo got to the final table and came fourth in a $2,000 buy-in No Limit Hold’em poker event, winning $156,000 during the 2007 WSOP. In 2008, he classified as runner up in a $5,000 Mixed Hold’em event for $230,000, a tournament that marked the first bracelet win for Erick Lindgren, Full Tilt Poker pro.

At the 2006 Bellagio Five Diamond World Poker Classic, part of the WPT / World Poker Tour, Bonomo finished in seventh for $152,000 at the six-handed televised final table. In 2007, he also classified 11th in the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Main Event and 35th in the WPT Championship, for a combined total of $154,000. Bonomo took down the inaugural Dream Team Poker event held at the Hard Rock Casino in Las Vegas as part of “Team Bluff.” Parvis and Eric Morris also participated at this event. Next, he will appear at the PokerStars SCOOP, which commences today.

Marking Bodog’s elite stable of poker pros’ new addition, Mohawk Gaming Group CEO Alwyn Morris commented, “Justin is one of the most feared and skilled players in poker today and we’re thrilled to officially have him join our team of world-class poker pros. Justin lives and breathes the Bodog lifestyle and is a perfect fit for us. We expect him to make a lot of noise this year for Team Bodog, beginning with the WSOP this summer.”
