Full Tilt Poker Attempts to Break World Record Held by PokerStars

July 17, 2009

It was just a couple of months ago that PokerStars got their place in the Guinness Book of World Records for having hosted the largest online poker tournament in the world.

This coming Sunday it is time for their main competitor, Full Tilt Poker, to try to break that record. But to break the record won’t be a simple task. In order to break the record and take over PokerStars spot in the history books FullTiltPoker.com will need to gather up at least 35.000 players who will participate in this tourmanet. The biggest land based tourmament in history so far is the 2006 WSOP Main Event where 8.772 players participated.

In order to make this tournament as attractive as possible for the players the good folks at FullTilt have decided to add $250.000 to the prize pool that already has a guarantee of $250.000. This means that no matter how many players particpate in this tourmanet there will still me at least $500.000 in the prize pool.

The buy-in for this record breaking tournament is only $5 or 1000 FullTilt Points so there will be a lot of value in it for those who particpate.

To add even more spice to this tournament it has also been announced that several member of Team FullTilt Poker will participate in this tournament. Amongst the players who are already signed up for the tournament we can find some huge names such as Phil Ivey, Chris Ferguson and Howard Lederer.

This record breaking attempt is the finale to the current “FIVE” promotion that is going on at FullTilt to celebrate their 5th anniversary.

For those of you who wants to help FullTilt write poker history the tournament will start at 15:05 EST on Sunday the 19th of July.

If you don’t have a real money account at FullTilt yet we suggest you use the Full Tilt Poker referral code EASYTILT when creating your account as this code will entitle you to a $600 bonus when you make your first deposit.
