November 10, 2010

Popular and successful Danish poker player, Theo Jorgensen, will join the ranks of the elite members of Team PokerStars Pro. After winning more than $1.1 million in live tourneys alone this year, Jorgensen will also take on the title of brand ambassador for the Nordic Championship of Online Poker.

The 38-year-old says, “I’m delighted to be joining the world’s largest poker site. PokerStars has always hosted the best poker events in the world and sponsors only the most talented players, so I am very excited to be a part of this.”

Jorgensen has been playing poker since 1993 and is known as one of the more experienced players. His career earnings for live tournaments total more than $2.5 million that include a first place win in May of this year at the WPT Grand Prix de Paris where he won €638,377 and a first place win at the WSOP Europe for £5,000 Pot Limit Omaha that paid him £218,626 in September 2008. He also has two 4th place wins, one at the PokerStars EPT Copenhagen back in January 2007 and another at the PokerStars EPT Deauville in February 2006.

PokerStars Nordic Director Michael Holmberg explained why Jorgensen was selected to join Team PokerStars Pro: “Theo Jorgensen is in every way a fantastic ambassador for poker. Both his impressive merits at the tables and his positive aura fall perfectly in line with PokerStars’ values.”

He also added, “We look forward to having such an experienced player as part of Team PokerStars Pro. Theo Jorgensen is a role model for many young and older players.”
