Harrah’s online gambling update

June 1, 2009

The biggest gambling group within the States, Harrah’s Entertainment has just set up a new internal division within their firm, named Harrah’s Interactive Entertainment. According to this week’s reports issued in the Montreal Gazette, this division was set with the goal of holding their upcoming online gambling enterprises with its headquarters will be outside the United States in Montreal.

Harrah’s newly appointed CEO is the former PartyGaming head Mitch Garber, originally from the Quebec province city in Canada. In an interview he told the named Gazette that positioning Harrah’s latest business in Montreal, outside the USA will give them a greater move of flexibility and freedom. It will gear them up to face the international businesses and marketing fronts. At the moment it is said that 10 employees are already working to set up the needed infrastructure for the new operational centre.

Harrah’s will also work on an interactive division project to include the government licensed operations in the UK market and the online lottery through the state and national governments around the world. This is an area that Garber himself is very familiar with due to his days at PartyGaming.

Garber’s futuristic plan is to see Harrah’s further develop their existing and strong World Series of Poker brand. “There is a hunger for World Series of Poker events, like PGA Golf, with events taking place everywhere, whether it is Moscow, Montreal or Rome. Our intent is to deal with government and licensing authorities in every jurisdiction to grow the World Series of Poker” were quotes from his latest statement.
